Join the Cathedral Singers in the beautiful surroundings of Christ Church Cathedral for a concert of baroque music for royalty. Oxford’s acclaimed period-instrument orchestra, the Instruments of Time and Truth, will join the Cathedral Singers, their director James Morley Potter, organist Simon Hogan, soprano Lucy Cox, countertenor Sam Mitchell and bass Daniel Tate, in resounding music by Georg Frideric Handel. This will include the Coronation Anthems, written for the coronation of George II in 1727 and featuring the famous ‘Zadok the Priest’. Also featured is the sublime cantata Eternal Source of Light Divine, with its luminous solo trumpet opening, and the virtuosic Organ Concerto Op.4 No.4, heard in a rare version with a choral ‘Hallelujah’ finale. Rousing, festal music for choir and orchestra amidst the glories of Oxford’s Cathedral.
